There are a number of wonderful art museums in Martigny, including the world famous “Pierre Gianadda” located at the edge of the city. Here they have many Roman relics, rotating art collections including van Gogh, Renoir, and Degas, and a recreation of Leonardo da Vinci’s workshop. Also around the city, each square (or more appropriately roundabout) has a wonderful sculpture in the middle. I remember spending many lunch times eating at one of the many creperies around town, drinking coffee, and stopping by the local shop to pick up “Williamine” spirits. This local company makes a very strong liquor made from the local apricots that grow in the upper Rhone valley. Overall I definitely recommend a quick 2 hours train ride up the valley to this wonderful old Roman, artistic town. Day one – after finding my hotel and settling in the afternoon was spent horse riding through the sugar cane fields. Day two - From Airlie beach I boarded a boat and traveled out to the Great Barrier Reef where I took helicopter ride. The splendor visible from this height is unparalleled with anything else I have ever seen. While on Reef world, a pontoon based on the edge of the reef, there are many activities available including scuba diving and snorkeling activities available. There are also glass bottom submarine rides and a fish viewing room for those who like to admire but like to stay dry. Day 3 – I boarded an 30ft yacht with 7 other people and headed out to a small island where I spent the day baking in the sun and snorkeling. While here, I swam with both a turtle and a small sting ray. Day 4 – It was time for the relaxation part of my holiday. I transferred to Daydream Island, and I can assure you, the name is very fitting. While wondering the islands many paths that take you on a wondering journey over reefs you have to admire the crystal blue water that surrounds you. From here on in, I didn’t move from the pool with the swim up bar where I sipped cocktails and enjoyed the room tab available. Day 7 – I watched my final sunset from the banana lounge on the beach while sipping the cocktail brought to me by the waiting staff and had to sigh as tomorrow I would be leaving. Day 8 – I have never been so relaxed. I will be coming back here, but for now it’s time to say farewell. Whitsunday Islands is one of my favorite world tourist attractions. Venice was the first city we visited, and it quickly became one of my favorite cities in the world. Our accommodations at the Hotel Principe were luxurious and practically out of a fairy tale. Located right on the Grand Canal, I was astonished that the only way to reach our hotel was by boat! It took the rest of our time there to for me to grow accustomed to this Venetian way of life. Of course, Venice is widely known as "The City of Water," or as the Italians call it, "Serenissima". Traveling everywhere by boat was a charming oddity. It was amusing to have to catch a ferry boat as if it were a bus - it was their version of public transportation. Speed boats floated and bobbed outside tourist attractions. They act as taxi cabs and quickly transport people to St. Mark's Basilica, the Piazza San Marco, or the Lido di Venezia. Gondolas had previously been something that I'd only seen in movies or on a television screen, but in Venice, they glided down the canal past me, looking grander than they ever could from just pictures. One of my favorite memories was visiting the Murano glass factory. Venice is famous for their Venetian glass industry, and Murano is the capital of that export. During our tour of the factory, my family I watched glass being blown into vases and other beautiful shapes right before our very eyes. My father even purchased a stunning Venetian glass chandelier that still hangs in our dining room. It was an experience I'll never forget. After the few days we got to spend in Venice before we made our way through the rest of Italy, I knew for certain that I would go back someday. Throughout all of the cities I toured in Italy and all the places I've ever visited throughout the world, Venice has always stayed in my mind. Although I still haven't made that trip, I know that someday I will. Venice is truly one of the most romantic cities in the world. It's easy to fall in love there or to renew love you've already had. The artistry, the architecture, and the overall ambiance of the city radiates the passion that Italians have always embodied. Someday, I'll go back to Venice and once again fall in love with one of the best world tourist attractions. I'll bring a lover or even just a good friend, and I'll go back to all the places I once visited when I was younger. My eyes will take in the lights of the city reflecting off the water at night, and I'll fall in love with the city all over again. The hotel was right on the beach so enjoying the ocean was easy to do. After three days in Cancun we drove for three hours and took a ferry to get to Isla Holbox where we stayed for seven days. Holbox is a small eco-tourism destination where most people just fish each day. It was a very different place compared to world tourist attractions like Cancun. But Holbox was very beautiful and relaxing. We stayed at the Xaloc Resort. Each morning they gave us a plate of fruit, juice, toast and coffee. The food on the island was not as good as in Cancun. All the food is bought at Costco once a week. Our rooms were nice and they had a thatched roof. We had electricity but no TV.
