Winter Vacation Destinations

Winter Vacation Destinations #1:

By Kevin from Detroit - Last winter, I took an amazing vacation to Breckenridge, Colorado to experience the breathtaking mountain landscapes and snowboard at the world-renowned resort. We arrived early on a Monday and checked in at the Village Hotel. After checking in, we purchased our lift tickets and began to enjoy the incredible conditions present on the mountain.

Breckenridge has miles of pristine snowboarding, as well as some truly gravity-defying terrain parks. There is nothing that even remotely compares to the trails and parks back in my home state of Michigan.

My father and I enjoyed an entire week of snowboarding and skiing, as well as some of the best food and dining available. Perhaps our favorite spot was the Breckenridge Brewery. I enjoyed what was quite possibly the best cheeseburger I've eaten while on vacation there. All in all, Breckenridge is an amazing vacation idea for an avid winter sports fan.

Winter Vacation Destinations #2:

By Raquel from Fresno - I love going to Lake Tahoe, Nevada on vacation. It is a place that you can spend the weekend, or even a whole week.

In the winter, they have skiing and other snow sports. The gondola up to Heavenly Ski Resort is in the middle of town, with cute shops and restaurants surrounding it.

In the summer, the lake is the place to be. They have sailing, fishing and just lounging by the water sipping a Rum Runner. When I go, I like to stay at the Harrah’s Hotel and Casino.

It is located in South Lake Tahoe and is close to all the action. It is not as crazy there as in Las Vegas, so it can be more of a relaxing trip with some of the same attributes.

The casinos are all at the south end of the lake, and there are also resorts up on the hilltops around the lake. If you are looking for vacation ideas with things to do in winter as well all year round, Lake Tahoe is the place to go.

Winter Vacation Destinations #3:

By Sarah from Canada - Ever since I was a little girl I loved playing in the sand at the beach. It could be at the near-by lake or a nice hot beach in the south, I just loved making my own creations.

Every winter since I was in grade 2 my family and I have been going on family vacations to the beautiful land of Mexico. We always used to hear about how bad and dirty it is there, but it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in my entire life.

Crystal clear beaches and white sand. I was in heaven. We always went to Peurto Vallarta and stayed with Sol Melia in Crown Paradise. Excellent service, as always. The resort was filled with many exhilarating and fun activities like pool volleyball and windsurfing along the beautiful clear ocean.

There were so many options, they even had a kids club where you can drop off your younger children and the amazing staff from the hotel provide activities with them, feed them, and watch them while you go do your thing. I'll never ever forget my stay there!

Winter Vacation Destinations #4:

By Brian from Portland - Montana is a really nice vacation idea, particularly in the winter. One of my favorite places to go in Montana is Little Bitteroot Lake.

We have been there several times. It is a little bit of a drive outside of Kalispell but the lake is really nice. We went up there one winter and stayed at a cabin called Little Bit Cabin. The lake and the mountains are just beautiful in the winter. One of the things we did was ride snowmobiles up the logging trails into the mountains. That was a blast.

Little Bitteroot Lakeis also a nice place to take a camping trailer. There is a nice campground we have used called Rest-A-Day Campground. Our camping trip was during the simmer. There are a lot of places to mountain bike. And then there is the lake. It is perfect most of the time. You can go swimming or take a boat out.

Winter Vacation Destinations #5:

By Elaine from New Orleans - For a winter vacation, I took a trip to Crested Butte, Colorado. I had a great time and intend on going back in the summertime! Crested Butte is a small beautiful town with lots to do.

I stayed in a house just a few minutes out of the main city. However, they have tons of lodging right next to the slopes on the mountain! Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, sleigh rides are just a few of the winter activities you can do.

As much fun I had learning to snowboard, I really enjoyed the city life. It's such a quaint town with a main road packed with great dining and shops! The locals are so friendly! One even gave me ski lessons practically for free.

I heard the mountain is just as beautiful in the summer and would love to check it out that time of year. I would suggest anyone taking a vacation to Crested Butte!
