Sometimes these displays are in conjunction with a gift shop, or perhaps a local festival or a county fair. An historical preservation society or sometimes a family rescues an archive and puts it into some kind of social or cultural context for visitors to enjoy and appreciate. Without some one's care and perception, these little pieces of history would disappear. I also like interpretive centers. Some are elaborate and others appear insignificant at first glance. Roadside markers and historical sites fall into this category. To find the really authentic restaurants you need to either scour the web looking for a review of a place, and make sure the review was given by a local and not the restaurant's owner or if you can swing it get a local to take you to their favorite places. For example on my last vacation I went to Tennessee and had a friend take me to all of her favorite places. We ate the best fried food you could imagine. You have not lived until you have had fried chicken with a side of slaw for lunch and then have a corndog and deep fried Twinky for dinner. If I had not known anyone in Tennessee I probably would not have eaten half as well. Your stroll, as well as mine, must include a stop at Funland, a vintage amusement park tucked into half a block along the beach. Best bumper cars on the East Coast. And that stroll must also take you by Dolle’s, home of the best caramel corn anywhere. Sharing a box with your beloved while listening to the breakers and watching the fishing boats work the bluefish runs is about as good as life gets. What I'm looking for when it comes to pictures of my kids are the kind that can only be found in a more natural setting. One particular example is a tree that is located in Winter Park, Florida. It's split down the middle several times and has grown tall in all directions. In that split, there is ample room for both of my girls to stand together and we've enjoyed quite a few posings in that location. Ever since the first time we saw that tree, I've sought out other settings for the types of pictures that you hang on your wall for the duration, not just till the next great picture is taken. I hope I'll always take the time on vacations to look for that next great picture. Also we never get the same type of food. We get different entrees or side items so we can try as much as we can. We always ask people at the motels where they like to eat or getting on the internet before we go someplace to see what types of places we can go to eat. Reading this you would think we are both overweight but I am not.
