Wales Vacations Idea #1:
Enjoy the scenery of the Wales countryside with a ride on The Great Little Trains of Wales. These old-style steam powered trains travel on narrow gauge track and offer a fun, leisurely way to see the countryside. This means that they are smaller than regular trains and move at a slower pace.

This is fine because it gives you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The rail lines traverse Wales north to south and east to west. There are a dozen spots to board from the Snowdon Mountain Railway in the north to the Vale of Rheidol Railway in the south. It's a great way to get where you are going or just enjoy an outing with the family.

Wales Vacations Idea #3:
One of the Seven Wonders of Wales is the 14th century stone bridge at the town of Llangollen in northeast Wales. Llangollen is also famous for the International Musical Eisteddfod. This is a fun and colorful festival featuring competitions for musicians, dancers and other artists from around the world. The International Musical Eisteddfod is lasts for a week in mid-July.

Wales Vacations Idea #4:
Just outside the village of Pumsaint lies the Dolaucothi Gold Mines. Secreted within the green rolling hills and valleys of southern Wales, the mines are under the care of the National Trust. There are two tours, the Roman Tour and an Underground Tour. 1930's mining machinery is on display. The surrounding woodlands have many marked walking trails.

WVacation in Wales Idea #5:
Snowdonia National Park offers lots of outdoor activities in the mountainous region of northern Wales. Walking, climbing, and bird watching are popular as there are lots of guided walks and landscaped trails among the dramatic peaks and valleys. The highest mountain in Wales is Mount Snowdon. If you go to the town of Llanberis, you can walk up the mountain. But it’s a fairly demanding and rugged walk. A more relaxing way is to ride the Snowdon Mountain Railway steam train up the mountainside.

Vacation in Wales Idea #6:
Portmeirion Village typifies the Welsh culture of poetry and music. This is a beautiful and colorful Italian-style fantasy village. It was designed and built to embrace and enhance the natural landscape. Stay at the Portmeirion Hotel or one of the village’s lovely self-catering cottages. Portmeirion is the home of the beautiful Gwyllt sub-tropical gardens. If you remember the television show, "The Prisoner", it was filmed here. The Prisoner Tour will show you the buildings and spots where the filming took place.

Wales Vacations Idea #7:
Other interests are the beaches along the coast, Bala Lake for water sports, ruined castle Castell-y-Bere, and the spectacular Black Waterfall. In the heart of Mid-Wales, Beiciau Madian Quads, offers two exciting activities. On their Quad Trak you take a 4x4 off-road into the beautiful countryside where most people can't go. This is available for any level of experience, even the complete novice.
