There was a good mix of families and couples at the resort. We did not participate in any activities outside the resort (although there were numerous excursions for all kinds of interests available), we spent most of our time at the beach or at the pool. We had a swim-out room that featured a small grassy area and an outdoor whirlpool, the infinity was outside our room and ran throughout the resort. The resort featured many amenities, including a spa, internet/computer area, cigar store, casino, and featured entertainment every evening. The restaurants were great, and offered an international buffet for all meals with lots to choose from and a la carte (but included) restaurants available each evening to choose from as well. We very much enjoyed our 6 day - 5 night stay, and look forward to returning soon. By far one of the best vacation ideas I've had and unbelievable cheap. Great for young people especially (we are college age). This resort was a bit more of a couples resort but it had a small club at night and a drop dead gorgeous beach. The food was pretty good, not five star and all buffet style but plenty of it and the fresh fruit and omelet bar was to die for. We hardly wanted to leave the resort with all the free drinks (the staff were super friendly and would cut us pen fresh coconuts). We did do some additional excursions: a snorkeling trip where they take you out on a boat to an underwater holding tank full of sharks and sea life that you could snorkel with ($60) plus free alcohol on the boat and performers and music, an ATV trip ($90) that lasted about three hours and took us through the jungle to a water fall and then along the beach (again provided alcohol and food). We didn't get a chance to try them but on the beach right outside the hotel was banana boating/parasailing for $6/$10. Thirsty? Stop by one of the many bars (they even had a swim up bar in one of the pools!) and order yourself something. All of this was included in the initial price paid for the hotel. There were many different pools and hot tubs, and there was of course a beach filled with chairs overlooking the ocean, so it was paradise for a water lover like myself! It is such a great place because they offer something for everyone. There are shows at night, exercise classes, volleyball games, and entertainers who would go around during the day (great for young children). The rooms were also very nice and the buildings were aesthetically pleasing because it was not just one huge hotel. Instead, the rooms were more so set up like villas. Each little villa had 4 or 8 rooms (I can't remember which). All of these villas were surrounded by beautiful gardens. Everyone who worked there was so nice and the place as well protected, so I never felt uneasy. Every Wednesday, they would allow vendors from the city to set up in the main lobby and sell their things - jewelery, paintings, wood work, and more. They also had a night club, small casino, and a small street with tourist shops. They also worked with outside companies to offer excursions to guests. Of course if you would like to participate in any of these, you had to pay for them. My family went horseback riding, white water rafting, snorkeling, and took a tour of the city and rum factory. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone! There is so much to do that everyone will find something they like with vacations to Dominican Republic!
