One morning we took a taxi to the beach but apparently the driver misunderstood and took us to a different beach. This was Playa la Ropa and we discovered that this was equal to the other beach but not as touristic. Although we were in a different beach, this was a water vacation so we stayed. It was great! There were few people and it was very calm. The water was very clear, and the food was cheap and delicious. We swam and practiced surfing with a rented surfboard and play water fights between us. We are planning to return to Zihuatanejo, Guerrero because this is a good Mexican beach vacation spot. The first thing we did when we arrived in San Felipe was hire a small motorboat. It came with a guide and he took us exploring along the coast. That was fun and then he dropped us off at the most beautiful beach we've ever seen. This was called Quinta Playa Hermosa. There were no people there so our family had the beach to ourselves. The water was crystal clear, the beach sand was beautiful, the waves were calm, and the sky was sunny. We swam and relaxed on the sand and ate our lunch under one of the huts along the shore. We picked up lots of nice shells. The only problem was that our boat never came back for us! There must have been a miscommunication with the guide. But there were boats not far. We flagged one down and hitched a ride back to San Felipe. The rest of our Mexico beach vacation was spent the main beach, Playa San Felipe. This was nice but my favorite part was the virgin beach that we first experienced. As for Mexico vacation destinations, San Felipe is just a small town and not overly touristy. But that is what we wanted. It was fun. I would definitely do it again, but I would recommend a cell phone just in case. And I found some fun vacation activities. I learned how to sail and spent a lot of time snorkeling off the beach. That was really lots of fun and worth the trip. I also was looking for good places to go in the area that I could do by myself. The resort hooked me up with a guided tour of the ancient ruins at Chichin Itza. I found the experience to be very informative. What was really nice is the air conditioned bus picked me up right the hotel. The food was amazing and there is plenty to do alone and as a family. The resort was right in the middle of the tourist area. This made me feel very safe but still allowed us to experience what Mexico had to offer. I would recommend Cancun, Mexico to anyone looking for an inexpensive vacation idea, and a quality vacation place.
