There are many fun stores and restaurants to visit in Disneyland, I found myself attracted to a couple shops on the main drag such as the candy store and a store where a bunch of funky hats were sold. My dad enjoyed the magic store which sold a myriad of fun items to prank people with.

I also was fortunate enough to visit a Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. You're given a large feast with enough food to feed a family of six all while enjoying a jousting show. You're assigned to be cheerleaders for a certain team, and get the opportunity to buy small flags to represent your team's horseman.

California is a wonderful vacation destination regardless of plans due to its wonderful weather year round, beautiful sunsets, rich history and inspiring landscape. Even if you're unable to visit Disneyland, it's still a great place to travel.

We toured the Cabot cheese making plant and went swimming in the cold springs at Stowe. One of the coolest things we did was go to Stowe and go racing on the ski slope; in the summer when there’s no snow, you can go half-pipe racing on the mountain; you take the ski-lift to the top of the mountain where they have these half-pipes that are sunk into the ground that go all the way down the mountain; you sit in a little sledge and race the person in the track next to you down the mountain. The kids loved it!

There’s so many fun things to do in Vermont; we took the kids to a Ben and Jerry’s store almost every day and went hiking and at night we sat around the campfire and toasted marshmallows and made smores and played cards. It was a great family vacation idea; a time to reconnect and just be a family.

One of my favorite places to visit is Savannah, GA. It has a little something for everyone. It’s an amazing town full of life and vibrancy, and there’s something for everyone. If you like history, there are museums all over town such as the one featuring the founder of the Girl Scouts. You need to also check out the historic squares. In the middle of town you can find monuments and structure to go along with history. It’s like a museum outside in one of the most beautiful places in town.

If you like literature, the book “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” was set in Savannah and the town takes it seriously. There are museums, shops, and landmarks in regards to this one book. Savannah is a coastal town, so don’t forget to experience River Street. It’s a street by the water with many shops and musicians to serenade you and your loved ones. Lastly, Savannah has the most beautiful beaches. Check out Tybee Island for lighthouses and beaches that stretch for miles.

It was amazing to see the ducks come off the elevator all in line down the red carpet to the fountain. The look on the faces of the children present was one of amazement, that these ducks would follow each other and ride the elevator back to the roof top where they lived.

We then took off on foot to experience Beale Street. Even during the daytime there were street performers and children doing flips and acrobatics for tips. We had a wonderful lunch at the original B.B. Kings restaurant.

The food and the music and the atmosphere seemed to transport you back to a time when Jazz and Blues ruled the night air of Memphis. From there we walked to the Loraine Motel and the National Civil Rights Museum. It was almost poetic to be standing, looking out where Dr. Martin Luther King JR. was shot and killed for the freedom we were celebrating on that day. We have been back to Memphis several times and each time we go there are a few things we always do.

We always go see the Peabody Ducks and we always make the trip down Beale Street for great food and music.

There is a Hilton Vacation Club just outside of the entrance to the main Disney property - probably about 5 minutes by car (we rented a van for the week we were there).

This property is amazing. It has several restaurants, a convenience store, many pools and hot tubs, a playground for kids, a kids’ activity center and craft area, and live pool-side music in the evenings. Best of all, the rooms are all suites, so we had a kitchen, living room, play area, laundry room, and a large bedroom.

We bought a three-day Disney pass and drove to the park for our days there, but we actually felt like we enjoyed our time at the vacation club better. We got the rooms on Hotels.com for about $130 per night. Absolutely amazing vacation idea for the price, and an interesting (and slightly calmer) way to experience Disney World.
