So, what’s the big fuss about Stonehenge? Apparently some ancient tribe of people had a fascination with heavenly bodies and the laws of physics. They showed this interest by building a group of stone formations that have significance well beyond what would be expected in that time period. For instance, one of the formations is aligned with the sunrise at midsummer, the sunset at midwinter and the moon’s southerly rising. Also, some of the stones weighted as much as four tons and came from locations 250 miles away. A move like that seems impossible for the technology of that period. When you visit Stonehenge on your next vacation you will learn more about these two "factual wonders" plus several more even harder to believe. Strolling around the castle on a tour you will come face to face with a thousand years of history. Over the years a good many ghost stories have been associated with Warwick Castle. One of the stories that has grown legs is that a fellow named Fulke Greville haunts the Watergate Tower. These stories were helped along by a 2006 television program that reviewed the various legends. These and many other stories bring countless Castle visitors each year. This castle is really huge, probably the largest you will ever see. There is so much spectacular history connected with Warwick Castle and it‘s all quite visual, so if history is your passion be sure to come visit. The interesting thing about this technological advancement is that it has become a tourist magnate because it is so much fun to watch it happen. You just don’t have to know how it’s constructed nor do you have to care about the history of locks and lifts. All you have to do is marvel at this new invention. At the visitors center you can arrange for a boat tour which is called "The Falkirk Wheel Experience" and includes a ride on the wheel. The visitors center also has a café, a shop and exhibits related to the wheel. Also, you might be interested to know that this wheel is the only one operating in the universe. You ride in a standup position which makes the rider seem more vulnerable by taking away the security of the sitting position. Stormforce 10 is probably the best wet ride in the UK and with it’s G-Forces and high speeds it is not for the timid. There are several more high energy rides for the adventurers plus a bout a dozen rides for the youngsters. The Zoo area has over 100 animals including big cats, penguins, primates, owls and reptiles.
