Tourist Attractions in Vermont #1:
The ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center in Burlington, Vermont is a super stopping place on your Vermont vacation. Perhaps you didn’t know that Lake Champlain is a huge ecosystem that includes one of the world’s oldest coral reefs and many species of both plants and fish. The ECHO studies include the cultural, ecological, scientific and historical importance of the lake.

They use many excellent hands-on exhibitions to explain their findings including some new and interesting discoveries regarding frogs. ECHO also has fresh water aquariums, a salt-water touch-tank, and several changing exhibits. This is a great stop for children.

Tourist Attractions in Vermont #2:
The Ben and Jerry’s Factory Tour in Waterbury, Vermont would certainly be a hit with the kids in your family along with adults who are still kids at heart. Be sure to check if they are making ice cream that day or you’ll have some cranky kids on your hand.

The narrated tour is well worth the stop. There is also a well stalked gift shop and a Flavor Grave-yard plus some good photo ops. Would you believe that Ben & Jerry’s produce 190,000 pints per day and that all of the milk comes from Vermont farms?

Would you also believe that the flavor Peanut Butter & Jelly ended up in the Flavor Graveyard? By the way, the factories biggest statistic is that it keeps 40,000 Vermont dairy cows employed.

Tourist Attractions in Vermont #3:
Bread and Puppet Museum in Glover, Vermont specializes in "Cheap Art and Political Theater". This is a most unusual museum. On the political side, the Bread & Puppet Theater’s emphasis is anti-war, anti-capitalism, anti-globalization and pro-Vermont independence.

Regarding cheap art, the museum tries to reestablish the admiration of artistic creation by having it accessible to a bigger audience. In this way people will be encouraged to take part in the creative process of developing art that is not subject to academic endorsement or curatorial acknowledgment.

Now, neither of these issues may be important to you, but you will absolutely love the papier-mache puppets. There are many of these puppets to be seen and each one is funnier than the last one.

Tourist Attractions in Vermont #4:
The Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury Center, Vermont is one of the top attractions for tourists visiting Vermont. The cider is made the old-fashioned way and is open to the public year round, seven days a week and the Cider Mill operates their presses year round.

After you have checked out the cider process, you can stroll over to their store and look at the specialty items which include fudge, applesauce, honey and much more. Actually you can watch the bees make the honey with a protective glass between you and the bees.

Children are drawn to this unique opportunity to see nature at work. Of course these same bees pollinate the apple blossoms that produce the apples that were just squeezed into make cider. So the children can observe the process full circle. Bye the way, this visit just might be you’re first taste of an Apple Cider Donut. You could get hooked on ’em.

Tourist Attractions in Vermont #5:
Lake Carmi State Park, Enosburg Falls, Vermont is on the quiet southeastern shore of Vermont’s fourth largest natural lake. This is a pretty typical state park with all of the usual accouterments that you would expect. They have 140 sites for either trailer or tent, two cabins and 32 lean-tos.

There is the opportunity for lots of fun with kayak and canoe rentals, swimming at the beach along the lake, bicycling, row boating and a boat launch if you brought your own boat. Add to this a nature center with programs, great fishing and a picnic area, and you have a perfect spot for a Vermont vacation.

At the end of a full day of vacation fun you can relax in a hot shower at the park. Of course, a little singing around the campfire after dark just might make the day complete.

Tourist Attractions in Vermont #5:
The Main Street Museum in White River Junction, Vermont is a display of artifacts and curiosities from the 18th and 19th centuries plus some newer items. Add to that an experiment in a new cataloging system and you have a very, very interesting "museum of the atypical".

You could also call it "knick-knacks" from around the world.” No, this is not macabre and nothing jumps out at you when you enter the museum. It is just a unique little museum that anyone who likes the “unusual” won’t want to miss. Some of the items you will see include old photographs, stuffed animal heads, a dog’s tooth necklace and many more.

Vermont is a four season, beautiful state. In the spring, summer and fall there are a number of fair weather things to do. In the winter there are oodles of winter sports to keep a tourist busy. However, Vermont does not have any theme parks like Disneyland or Sea World to keep a tourist busy for days at a time. These series of smaller attractions, when strung together add up to a Vermont Theme Park.
