Just an early morning walk on the waterfront and breakfast at one of the friendly cafés is the kind of unique and soothing experience that tourists search for. The island faces St. Laurence Bay on the east and is accessible by land via Confederation bridge on the west. There is more than enough on this beautiful, pastoral Island to provide a very memorable vacation. Beyond the obvious choices of an historic village and a family fun park, there are some wonderful attractions. The National Park has camping and great hiking paths while the Confederation Centre of the Arts displays the very best in the Canadian performing and visual arts. Other great things to do include golfing, harness racing, hunting, deep sea fishing plus bicycling and motorcycling. With so many interesting buildings along the waterfront, St, Andrews is a mecca for artists and photographers. There are some excellent guided tours that will take you to Ministers Island by driving over the ocean floor at low tide. Now there’s a story to bring home. Be sure to get photos at both high and low tide. This summer our destination was in Quebec, Canada. This was our first out of the United States destination which made it very exciting (not to mention the thrill of the whole different language there). We rented a large house which held all 23 of us in a ski town called Mont Tremblant. We had an amazing time golfing the many different golf courses, fishing the lakes, hiking mountains, etc. The weather was gorgeous and always around 60 or 70 degrees. We spent the majority of our time at the downtown area of Mont Tremblant where there are hundreds of shops and activities for the children. We attended a concert with an amazing singer for Canada Day (July 1st) and had an all around awesome time reuniting with family. When we first arrived in Calgary we rented a car and traveled to Banff. Banff was really beautiful. The mountain views and hidden lakes were breathtaking. While there, my father and I went on a horseback ride in the mountains. It was a very memorable experience. We also visited the city of Banff, which was a lot of fun. There were a lot of cool restaurants and shops are we bought a lot of fun souvenirs to remember our trip by. After our adventures in Banff, we spent the rest of our trip in Calgary. There, we attended the Calgary Stampede. The Calgary Stampede was very exciting. There were a lot of people there, and a lot of things to see. My favorite thing at the Stampede was watching the different events, such as bull riding, barrel racing, and the bareback competition. I really enjoyed the experience of the Calgary Stampede and I hope I am able to attend again. The whole experience of being in a big city was also an exciting part of the vacation. Since I am from a small city, it was very overwhelming at first to see such big buildings and so many people all around. After time, however, I began to enjoy the fast paced life of being in a city. It was also fun visiting all the different stores and restaurants that we didn’t have back home. I had a lot of fun on my trip to Calgary with my father. While visiting Banff, attending the Calgary Stampede, and experiencing big city life, we made a lot of memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Going on vacations is a lot of fun and something I hope to be able to do a lot in the future.
