For you garden and flower enthusiasts The Memphis Botanic Gardens is a delight. This wonderful vacation spot in Tennessee has 24 themed gardens that are showcased among 96 acres of lakes and woodlands. They include the Japanese Garden of Tranquility, the Little Garden Club Sensory Garden and the TN Bicentennial Iris Garden. There is also an organic vegetable garden and a tropical conservatory.

Go horseback riding at the French Broad Outpost Ranch, the only Dude Ranch in the Great Smoky Mountains. Go on a cattle drive and experience the life of a ranch hand. The focus is on horseback riding and those with the skill can participate in rodeo style cow penning events. You can raft or tube down the French Broad River. There is also square dancing and line dancing, bonfires and sing-a-longs.

Casey Jones Village, in Jackson, is a great place for family fun. The Casey Jones Home and Railroad Museum is the legendary railroad man's 1890's home. There is an original steam locomotive, railroad artifacts, and a model railroad exhibit. Over 15,000 antiques are on display at the 1890's Old Country Store Restaurant, Ice Cream Parlor, and the Gift and Confectionery Shop. Enjoy a round of miniature golf at Casey Jones Adventure Golf.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is large and it needs to be because it the nation's busiest. Take a drive on the scenic highway that runs along the tops of the mountain. It is dotted with Quiet Walkways where you can stop and take a short scenic walk. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails lead through forest and to waterfalls.

The Tennessee Aquarium and IMAX 3D Theater makes a great part of a vacation trip to Chattanooga Tennessee. Tennessee is a great spring vacation idea. Frozen Head State Park and Natural Area, in the beautiful Cumberland Mountains comes alive with some of the richest wildflower areas in Tennessee. Enjoy the spring flora of The Great Smokey Mountains with over 170 hiking tours, motorcades and demonstrations. Warriors' Path State Park in Kingsport, holds their Spring Nature Festival. Take a springtime nature walk with some of the best nature guides and teacher/naturalists from across state. Norris Dam State Park, in Lake City, is another great vacation idea with walking trails to enjoy the spring flowers.

Tennessee Vacation Idea #12:
Even if you are not a raving Elvis fan, a visit to Tennessee's Graceland can be an entertaining and fun vacation idea. Anyone who appreciates music has to respect the popularity that Elvis Presley has generated even long after his death. Graceland is a piece of musical history and an integral part of American pop-culture. Most of the mansion is open to tour including the famous Jungle Room.

There is quite a lot to see such as Elvis's trophy room, his car collection, his two planes - Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II - as well as many Elvis's artifacts.

Tennessee Vacation Idea #13:
America’s most visited National Park is Great Smokey Mountains National Park in Tennessee. High up in the mountains is where you will find LeConte Lodge. The accommodations are very rustic but it’s the only lodging inside the park and it’s in a perfect location for you to take advantage of all the great hiking here. There are five individual hiking trails up the mountain and they are all worth the trip for the view from LeConte Lodge at the top. In fact hiking is the only way to get to the lodge and it’s collection of wooden cabins. The lodge and Mount LeConte are an extremely popular place for hiking enthusiasts.

Tennessee Vacation Idea #14:
For a real Tennessee Sipping Tour, head out from Memphis for a short drive to the George Dickel Distillery and the Jack Daniel's Distillery. Both distilleries are part of the Tennessee history and culture and they offer fun tours of the facilities. Jack Daniel's Distillery is the oldest registered distillery in the United States. It uses local cave spring water for its product. It's about 75 miles southeast of Nashville and their guided tour will give you a close-up look at how the famous whiskey is made.

About 17 miles away you will find the George Dickel Distillery. Here too you can take a fun tour and learn about the secrets that go into making the George Dickel’s award winning whiskey. The George Dickel General Store has the only working post office in the United States which is located in a distillery.

Tennessee Vacation Idea #15:
Walland, Tennessee is an Appalachian Mountain town near the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. An excellent place to stay while visiting Walland is Blackberry Farm. This small hotel is a high class gem in a country setting with beautiful mountain views, gourmet meals and understated luxury. Their Farmhouse Spa provides a heavenly hot-stone massage. Hiking, horseback riding and fly-fishing are popular activities here. But with the national park and the mountains as a playground your choices of fun things to do are wide open.
