We were also able to see the biggest Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, near the ice-skating rink (which is also a fascinating thing to experience). We stayed at the Double Tree hotel in Times Square, the service was satisfactory. I mostly enjoy our trips to New York because of the amount of landmarks to view. Times Square is also an amazing place as a whole to somebody who's never been. It's awfully nice to see so many people of so many cultures going about business in the same city, and I've met a lot of very nice people there in my past visits. It came fully equipped with a hot tub, sauna, Jacuzzi, and king size bed. We also had the most amazing view of the mountains, with the balcony in which our hot tub set. The first full day we had in Gatlinburg, we spent driving into the Smokey Mountains. We actually ended up in North Carolina towards the end, but it was a great experience. We somehow stumbled across an Indian reservation on the way, and while we were there we went to a bear feeding place. My wife was so excited to be feeding real live bears, but I won't like, it was a bit frightening. We spent a couple days at our cabin, just enjoying our time together. I am in the military, and was home on leave. We don't get a lot of time to ourselves, so the vacation served its purpose. We spent a day in Pigeon Forge walking around and exploring different shops. It’s pretty touristy, and a day was enough for me! We also rode the skyline while we were there, and saw the mountains from above. It was pretty amazing to witness such a beautiful display of nature. I would have to say this was one of the best vacations we ever took. We had so many options of things to do, and got to spend quality time together. I didn't mention, we also saw a baby bear while we were driving back from dinner one night. My wife still insists that it was Big Foot, and we still joke about it to this day. I would recommend renting a chalet in Gatlinburg to anyone who wants a nice romantic getaway. It was a great romantic getaway vacation, and we had a blast! We stayed at a charming bed and breakfast, the Bass Harbor Inn, right in the downtown area of Bar Harbor. Our suite had marvelous views of the harbor, and we were thrilled with the overall comfort and amenities - we even had a fireplace! Bar Harbor is a superb destination for a romantic get-away. There's so much to do - we spent the first afternoon just wandering around town, visiting the quaint little shops on Main Street. We had lunch at a delightful local restaurant, Galyn's, where the food was delicious and the service simply excellent. The next day we decided to take the auto loop in Acadia; the foliage was spectacular, so much so that we had to stop and go for a short hike. The views from the lookout on Cadillac Mountain were gorgeous - you can see for miles around, the hills and lakes of Mount Desert, the town of Bar Harbor, the sea cliffs. We enjoyed a truly romantic dinner that evening at Michelle's, an intimate spot located at Bar Harbor's Ivey Manor Inn. After an early breakfast the next day, we set out on a half day boat tour of Baker Island and Acadia National Park, aboard the Miss Samantha. What an experience! We thoroughly enjoyed seeing lighthouses, the island, the wildlife, and just the trip itself with the sunlight sparkling off the water and the fresh sea air. We had to head home the next morning, and we both agreed that our trip to Bar Harbor was too short and honestly, we hated to leave. We hope to return and spend at least a week in the Mt. Desert area, perhaps renting a vacation home to get a different feel and taste of the region. We flew down on Continental Airlines and my husband got us upgraded to first class. That was so nice to be able to sit in first class and not have to pay for drinks and get a half way decent meal. When we got to the Dreams it was amazing, more than we ever could’ve hoped. They had five 4-Star restaurants on the resort. There was seafood, Italian, Mexican, Buffet, and an American Bistro. Not to mention every night they had a special dinner poolside and grilled on the beach every day. It was so relaxing, every morning we would get some breakfast then my husband would go boogie boarding while I relaxed on the beach. About noon we would go back to our room for a little afternoon siesta. Every evening we would eat dinner at a different restaurant, get some cocktails and off to bed. I would recommend the Dreams Resort to anyone considering going to Puerto Vallarta, the place was 5-Star all the way. For our three-day stay, we chose the Breakers hotel, which is located right inside the resort. The hotel is so beautiful, and it makes it so much nicer to wake up and simply walk a few feet to the entrance. No messy parking! The first and third days were jam-packed with rides, rides, and more rides! Despite the abnormally warm weather, we found ourselves having a fabulous time. We love this park, because even if you are not a roller coaster fanatic, you will definitely find something to entertain you! The second day, we actually spent a better portion of it at the water park, which is conveniently located right beside the main park. The lazy river and other wet and wild rides really helped cool us off. By the end of our trip, we had eaten so much tasty food (bratwurst is the best!), screamed on so many rides, and seen so many fun shows, we did not want to leave. For us, we like to combine romance and fun together so this is the perfect getaway for us.
