The HeyDay Entertainment Center in Norman, Oklahoma is basically a young people’s attraction although older folks could easily join the fun. The entertainment includes laser tag, mini-golf, air hockey, jet fighter simulation, and several great arcade games. Double Dave’s Pizzaworks will keep your stomach happy. This is a great place for group fun with friends. The park has camp sites for both tent and RV camping. They have playground equipment, picnic areas, a fish pond, nature trails and a swimming pool for warmer days. The canyon walls provide for some first class climbing and rappelling. Slick Willies Family Pool Hall in Oklahoma City is a bundle of fun. With first class pool tables, foosball, darts, video games and much more, the fun never stops. And, with a great snack bar you’re all set when hunger strikes. With the word “Family” in the name you know you can bring your brood along for the fun. Let’s face it, Slick Willies is an unwinding station. Fort Reno in El Reno, OK has a short name but a long history. From it’s beginnings in 1874 ‘till today, Fort Reno has helped tame the west, fought many battles and was a host to German POWs during WWII. The history of the fort is so powerfully interesting that you should find an excuse to visit here. Today there is a group of reenactors who entertain periodically. If you are visiting the Chisholm Trail Museum you’ll find the Dalton Cabin. It’s a good example of an Oklahoma log cabin of the late 1800’s but it’s more than that. This is the family home of the four Dalton brothers who became known for their bank and train robbing skills. Bob, Gaf, Emmet and Bill successful dodged the law for a few years but the law won in the end. If you’ve just visited the Chisholm Trail Museum and the Dalton house you could check out the Gant School House in Kingfisher. This building is a restored one room school house from frontier days in Oklahoma. Would you believe that it cost $100 to build it? The last school term for the Gant School was in 1930. Your young children who complain about school should visit this artifact. Oklahoma City's vibrant and spirited environment blends well with the famous Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheatre. This venue is well known for its live musical events with big names performers. Other attractions at the Amphitheatre include plays, public meetings, concerts, dance programs and the circus. Check the Amphitheatre’s web site for scheduled events. The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City started out as a Hall of Fame which honored the American cowboy. It has now grown to be a world class museum with some great collections of artifacts and art which dovetails with its original emphasis. Visiting this museum is like taking a step back in the old American west. These kinds of stories seem weak to some people, but what kind of country would we have without these creative thinkers who believed in the future? It’s a beautiful story. A great vacation idea would be to combine your visit to the Territorial Museum with a visit to the Oklahoma Frontier Drug Store Museum and The Apothecary Garden, which are also in Guthrie. With many interesting artifacts, it tells story of 19th and 20th century pharmacies as the country grew. Please don‘t leave ‘til you‘ve had an ice-cream soda at the old fashion soda fountain. Also, if you have the family with you, it might be a good idea to hop over the Mitch Park in Edmond Oklahoma where there’s something for every age. The park features two basketball courts, a volleyball court, a skate park, a disc golf course, an exercise station and an amphitheatre. For the young children there are two playgrounds the many interesting features.
