Food and beverages are of local and international influence, well prepared, and served in abundance. The private beach is picturesque and inviting. There is a small island off of the beach for nude sunbathing. There are many extra-curricular activities available at Couples including snorkeling, jet-skis, horse-back rides in the hills by the resort with spectacular views, tours of Ocho Rios which include shopping, dining, and an old plantation. Ocho Rios is a beautiful resort town with a cruise ship filled harbor. Back at the resort, evenings are filled with live entertainment, dancing, and beverages. When leaving the resort, we even stopped off in the gift shop and picked up a bottle of premium Couples branded Jamaican rum. We landed in Montego Bay at Sangster Int. Airport not really knowing what to expect. Once off the airplane you could almost feel the island around you. The heat, the smell of the gentle breeze....we liked being here and we weren't even off the plane. Our trip in on of Jamaica’s "mini buses" is an hour of driving that we-will-never-forget. The white-knuckled feeling you get when your driver is going so fast, on the left side of the road mind you, beeping at anything in his way is almost too much! We had our driver pull over at one of those tin roofed shacks on the side of the road so we could purchase a couple of Red Stripe beers. I still say that was the best beer I have ever had! Once in Ocho Rios, we continued on to Couples Resort which is just past the town a ways. The resort is like you are transported back to the 1950's, complete with decor! The old feeling of the hotel, with the open lobby and the massive back terrace brings a tear of happiness as soon as you enter. The rooms in this resort were not of 5 star, new building type variety but rather the extension of the 1950's persona you felt. The air conditioner worked like a charm and our view....oh the view....unbelievable doesn't even come close. We felt this to be a very romantic resort. Our week spent in this resort went by very quickly and we wished we could stay. The myriad of activities both on and off the beach are to anyone's liking and we felt we fit right in. After our last restful night we were transported to a tiny....I mean TINY airstrip not far away from the resort and boarded a single prop airplane for our cross-island journey to Negril. If anyone EVER has the chance to do a small plane trip like this on Jamaica, do it. Your heart will forever melt when you hear that Jamaica commercial on tv, as well as when you hear any Bob Marley tune. Simply astoundingly beautiful. Once in Negril we felt as if things moved a tiny bit quicker around us....maybe it was because there was more people around? The resort staff were 'almost' as nice as in Ochos Rios, but had a different air about them. Not snobby, but maybe more touristy. The resort itself is very nice, being alot newer than Couples Ocho Rios, Couples Negril has everything to offer in the way of sightseeing, water sports, night life, etc. One place we did visit was Ricks Cafe where they filmed Casablanca. Very quaint restaurant, mostly outdoors, propped on the rocky cliffs of Negril. Here there was lots of music, people, and cliff divers. Yup, cliff divers. These crazy locals would jump from cafe to the water which has to be 40ft or so. Beautiful sunsets, expensive food, lots of people at night. Gotta see it! The Negril 7 mile beach needs to be experienced by anyone traveling to Jamaica. The perfect white sand beach and the idyllic blue water is simply majestic at this fantastic Jamaicia all inclusive resort. The beach out front of the Couples Jamacia all inclusive resort was raked every morning (or night??) to make it look like no one had been on that beach. Drink service on the beach was average, but of course the drinks were amazing ;) Our honeymoon was perfect in our eyes, only wish we had was that we could stay longer. Highly, highly recommended vacation idea. When I left on my flight it was 28 degrees 4 hours later, I was standing in 95 degree weather, what a feeling. We took a shuttle directly to the resort, to find one of the most beautiful places on earth. I don't travel much and was very apprehensive when first getting to the resort, But I couldn't wait to get to the pool bar and begin my journey as if in the brochure. This is where I started. I get to the pool bar and try to order a Vodka and orange...there was a crowd of about 40 people or so in the pool and next to me was a guy who was trying to convince me to order a "BANG BANG". So I did, The bartender swiftly tells me to jump out of the water and sit on the bar I'm nervous, but sounds interesting so I do. He then tells me to lay back, I do. Open mouth, I do. The bartender then proceeds to pour one of the strongest Kamikazes' in my mouth using my mouth as the mixer. I then sat up and was told to fall back into the pool. I did. When I came up out of the water the whole pool and I mean everybody SCREAMS "BANG BANG"!!! What a start to a Great vacation! Needless to say 2 more drinks and friends at the pool, I was no longer nervous. I had a great time with this vacation idea in Jamaica.
