Indoor water park hotels can add excitement to your typical vacation ideas. This is a great option for anyone vacationing with family. When you stay at a hotel with an indoor water park, you don’t need to worry about the weather.

It’s a guarantee that your kids will be entertained, which doesn’t only make their trip a success, but it gives you time to relax. Prior to reading the information below, it’s important to understand that these are family-oriented destinations.

That being the case, many of the traveler ratings are lower than what you would find for a luxury resort. The majority of these hotels focus on entertainment for kids opposed to amenities for adults.

Since adults are the ones leaving the reviews, this can sometimes lead to lower than deserved ratings. Despite only average ratings, these are the best hotels with indoor water parks in the U.S.

Splash Universe Indoor Water Park Resort

Shipshewana, IN

Traveler Rating: 4.0 Stars

Price: Moderate

This is not the only Splash Universe Resort. This specific location was chosen because of its high traveler rating.

The indoor water park here is large and impressive, but it’s not what guests rave about the most.

Believe it or not, it’s the enormous breakfast buffet that guests are so passionate about. Another neat feature for this hotel is that it’s located in the middle of Amish Country.

You can look out your room window and literally see a horse drawn buggy going by, which is pretty neat.

The amenities here don’t just cater to kids. In addition to two good restaurants, there is a golf course, a traditional pool, a beauty salon, and a florist.

Both kids and adults will appreciate the quality snack bar at the water park. More importantly, there are lifeguards everywhere and it’s obvious they take their jobs seriously, which helps put parents at ease. The resort as a whole is always kept clean and comes highly recommend.

Surfari Joe’s Indoor Wilderness Water Park and Hotel

Watervliet, MI

Traveler Rating: 3.5 Stars

Price: Moderate

You will not find an indoor water park hotel with more mixed reviews than Surfari Joe’s Indoor Wilderness Water Park and Hotel. Let’s look at the positives first.

They include a complimentary breakfast, a fitness center, a small game room, a water park with two water slides, a friendly staff, and overall cleanliness. Kids also love this place, which is the most important factor for most parents.

On the negative side, this hotel only offers internet access in public areas, there are trophy animals on the wall that are disturbing to some guests, and most of the lifeguards at the water park are teenagers who may not pay enough attention to what’s going on around them.

Great Wolf Lodge Water Park
Grapevine, TX
Traveler Rating: 3.5 Stars
Price: Expensive

Just like Splash Universe, this is not the only Great Wolf Lodge. However, this location was chosen because of its popularity. That said, don’t let the 3.5-star traveler rating fool you. This rating has a lot to do with the chaos that ensues at check-in during weekends and holidays. This chaos immediately puts adults in a bad mood and has an affect on the ratings they leave. Guests who look past check-in think of this as an incredible experience.

There are many reasons guests love this Great Wolf Lodge so much. They include a great staff, an excellent water park, an outdoor pool, a spa, a huge arcade, a superb gift shop, express checkout, and convenience to the city center and airport. The rooms are also spacious and clean.

Holiday Inn Elmhurst, Mayan Adventure Indoor Waterpark

Elmhurst, IL

Traveler Rating: 3.0 Stars

Price: Affordable

Let’s begin with the good news. Kids absolutely love the water park at this hotel. They also enjoy the game room, but not nearly as much as the water park. This hotel is kept clean at all times and the rooms are comfortable.

Amenities include a fitness center, a great bar/restaurant, as well as free newspapers and coffee in the lobby. In addition to that, every kid gets one free breakfast and dinner. The negatives include thin walls, occasional faulty appliances, and a mediocre staff.

Comfort Inn Pirates Bay Indoor Water Park

Shepherdsville, KY

Traveler Rating: 3.0 Stars

Price: Affordable

The traveler rating for the Comfort Inn Pirates Bay Indoor Water Park should be disregarded. The majority of the ratings were left while the hotel was under different management. The new management has done an incredible job at turning this hotel around. The staff is now competent and friendly, the interior has been remodeled, and the rooms are comfortable. The water park is also a huge success.

The pirate ship with water cannons seems to be a crowd favorite, but there are also five water slides to choose from. For toddlers, there is an enormous kiddy pool. Other amenities include a decent restaurant, a complimentary breakfast, free WiFi, free parking, and a business center. Every room has a microwave, a refrigerator, and a 32-inch television.

Holiday Inn & Suites Madison West - Crawdaddy Cove Indoor Water Park

Madison, WI

Traveler Rating: N/A

Price: Affordable

The reason this hotel doesn’t have a traveler rating is because it hasn’t had enough reviews. Despite this being the only indoor water park in the state of Wisconsin, it’s still a hidden secret. The water park has several slides of different sizes, water basketball, the SS Shrimpboat that both kids and adults love, fountains for toddlers, a kiddy pool, and a whirlpool.

Needless to say, it’s easy to spend all day at this indoor water park. There is also a traditional pool with a bar for adults. The Holiday Inn & Suites Madison West is close to Greenway Station, which is a great place to shop and dine. Overall, this is a small and cozy hotel that should satisfy any traveler.

If you pay attention to the locations of the hotels above, you will see that almost all of them are within driving distance regardless of where you live. Taking a family trip to a hotel with an indoor water park makes for memorable vacation ideas. It’s something every family should strongly consider.

Here's a vacation ideas tip from an anonymous reader - Madison is not the only place in Wisconsin with an In-door water park. I'm talking about the Wisconsin Dells! The biggest indoor parks are Great Wolf, The Kalahari, The Wilderness, Mount Olypus. There's a ton of smaller ones too. The whole town is loaded with motels and most have stay and play deals with the big water parks. There are also some really Great outdoor water parks too.

Once you get water logged, you can take a tour of the Dells (really cool natural sandstone formations) via World War II era ducks (slow boat) or Jet boat! (wet and wild). There are several arcades, mini-golf, lots of roller coasters and go-carts, fudge shops and a whole lot more. Not the cheapest place in the world, but check out wisdells.com for lots of deal.

Google Wisconsin Dells and you will find lots of fun stuff to do. (I live 15 miles away and even though it's crowded in the summer, I love the place.)
