In Nepal, There were places like Pokhra, the land of rivers and ponds which were magnificent. Then there was Chitvan, the jungle famous for Rhinos, Tigers and jungle safaris. Then there was a place called Nagraajot famous for its hotel made up of glass. Then to top it al their folk dances, ancient Hindu temples were mesmerizing. But, I would talk about the highlight of the whole trip which was the fascinating jungle safari of Chitvan, which was a breathtaking experience in itself. Hold your breadth to take a roller coaster ride to this amazing jungle. I started from the hotel in a jeep and reached the local river of Nepal, where I changed my ride to a canoe, which is a sleek boat made of a single piece of tree trunk. This ride made me feel high as if I was skating on the water bed and the breeze was helping me to skate smoothly. I reached a place where the water was not so deep and I saw my next ride ready and waiting for me where in the water was around 12 feet deep, to my surprise my next ride was a huge elephant. I climbed on top of the elephant and the unforgettable journey started. For the first time I witnessed that the elephant is the most intelligent animal of the entire animal kingdom. The way he was sensing the water current and then carefully putting is foot forward to cross the river and being vary stable at it and had a great sense of direction. The time came when I landed on the Chitvan land. Then I started walking towards my hotel room which was actually a room made on the tree and had a bedroom and an attached bathroom. The worst part were the big mosquitoes and to keep them at bay we were also provided with mosquito repellent creams. it was so calm in the middle of the jungle that I could hear the sound of the breeze and the leaves very clearly, as if they were welcoming me. I stood near the window and watched the sunset, the whole atmosphere became so holy and pure that it felt like heaven on earth. I changed and got down for bar-be-que dinner which was laid under the sky surrounded by nature. Every moment was so pure and original and was never experienced by me earlier. After a long night “good night” were the two words I uttered silently to myself and went to bed. There was a fire lit beneath each tree to keep away the wild animals. In the morning the sunrises behind the Himalayas was a feast for the eyes. I felt as if the sun had taken off its white sheet and opened its eyes to see the world and was happy to spread sunshine. I had never ever seen such a morning in my entire life where I felt so close to the sun as if it kissed me and woke me up. Now it was the time for a nature walk, which I was told that it was an experience in itself. A guide and a ranger were leading us to the jungle and on the way they were interpreting all the conversation done by the birds, animals which were hilarious and out of this world. I was so ecstatic to see animals and birds so close to me as if they were talking to me and trying to tell me something. The refreshing walk was followed by a nice breakfast with live performances by folk dancers and singers in the midst of the jungle. Then evening was bonfire time and then it was the end of another tiring and adventurous day. Next day was a real treat, an exciting jungle safari on an elephant which was 11 feet tall and we were surrounded by grass which was 12 feet tall, longer than the elephant itself. All we could see were people moving and the elephants were hidden in the grass. I saw various exotic wild animals and was fortunate to see some tigers playing by the water. We were also given binoculars to get a good view on the animals further away. Nepal is a great India travel vacation idea. From Delhi, it hardly takes one and a half hour to reach Leh, thanks to excellent air connectivity provided by Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines. Leh is well connected through road network via Manali. It’s a beautiful journey; however the road conditions are bad making the journey tiresome. The best time to visit Leh is primarily from mid May to early October. Leh experiences heavy rush between May to July constraining the availability of transportation and accommodation. However, in the months of August, September and early October the rush is relatively low with no constraints what so ever. For most part of winters connectivity to Leh is disrupted due to bad weather conditions such as heavy snow falls, cold wind storms, etc. There are no 4 star or 5 star hotels available in Leh. Golden Dragon is the only 3-star hotel along with number of budget hotels spread all over the city. A small tip- always ask for hot water facility before finalizing your hotel. Further, the taxi hiring rentals are quite expensive in Leh because of the difficult terrain. However, you can bargain, provided you are visiting in lean months. As Leh is located on very high altitudes and oxygen levels are quite low, it is very important for the tourists to acclimatize themselves with the new environment before going for the sight seeing. People should drink a lot of water to keep themselves hydrated. Leh is located at approx. 4,000 ft above sea level, however, to visit most of the major attractions might require you to cross much higher altitudes – hence acclimatization is must. Places to visit in Leh are Hemis Gompa (monastery), Thiksay Gompa, Stok Palace, Shey Palace and Sanchi Stupa. The major attractions, which are at a distance of 150 km to 200 km, are Pangong Lake, Nubra valley and Tsomoriri Lake. Among these Nubra valley is the most enchanting India travel vacation place where you can see all the unimaginable colors of nature. It is a place where, you can actually see, real desert, lush greenery, water streams, and mountains at the same place. One of the finest attractions here is the ride on the double humped camel – something I have never experienced before. It’s a godly place for an India travel vacation.
