The resort was beautiful, with huge swimming pools everywhere in order to withstand the hot temperature. They even had a gorgeous ocean-view swimming pool between the rocks. We often stayed in just to enjoy the great weather with some drinks. The huge resort also made it easy to meet new people with whom we would meet up some nights.

The city itself is also quite interesting. As with many Indonesian countries, it is not exactly rich like many popular cities, but to our surprise there were a lot of activities and things to do.

They have many little, picturesque shops in the streets where they sell a variety of Balinese things: paintings, souvenirs, clothes and more.

There are plenty of bars where you can get a drink as well as typical restaurants. The restaurants had great deals and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend visiting the Denpasar as you will really pick up the Balinese lifestyle.

Aside from the city, there are many attractions and/or festivals that you can visit on your holiday vacation in Bali. Usually, your hotel will have some recommendations of places to visit.

One night we, for instance, went to visit an old domain of the king. Later that night, in the same area we went to a demonstration of a typical Balinese dance, which was very beautiful. We visited the Bali Bird Park. This was most interesting to see all the many types of beautiful birds. Everyone’s favorite was the colorful parrots.

Another enjoyable spot was the Bali Botanical Garden. It was so peaceful and tranquil wandering around looking at all the beautiful flowers with ponds and waterfalls. I felt like I could live there.

The highlight of our holiday vacation in Bali and the favorite of the kids was the Monkey Forest. We went to Ubud to see the monkeys and the kids just had a blast running around and exploring and looking for the monkeys hiding and playing in the trees.

All in all, the trip was a great success. It was so great that a year later we decided to visit Bali again. The great thing about Bali was that along with the great weather, it was fun for us as well as our kids.

It is truly a beautiful area. I would definitely recommend a holiday vacation in Bali to everyone who is intrigued by the Indonesian culture.

And the food is very tasteful. Most tourists stay at the southern part of the island, but this is also the most touristy area (Kuta). In the centre of the island, Ubud is a good alternative to spend some quiet time, and up north Lovina and Ahmed are pretty good options.

It is not necessary to book ahead, and hotels are cheap but very luxurious. Most people who travel around will hire a driver. The island of Lombok is close by, and can be visited as well. A visa is required, but can be obtained on the spot. I would say this is a perfect place for a holiday or a honeymoon vacation idea.
