Halong Bay - Tourist Spots in Vietnam

by Duloc
(North Bay)

When I think of tourist spots in Vietnam only one place comes to mind. If I had the privilege to travel there again I would definitely not miss Halong. Halong is one of the natural wonders of the world. Halong Bay is a breath taking and amazing site to see in person. Halong Bay contains over three thousand pointy and jagged rocks. In the emerald green waters lie limestone islands that are amazing to see.

Famous as a World Heritage Site as rendered by UNESCO, the Ha Long Bay lies within the coastal area of Quang Ninh province, which is situated 180 km east of Hanoi. The entire water surface of this Bay is approximately 1500 square km large. The most distinguishing feature of the place is the numerous limestone karsts and isles seen throughout the region in various sizes and shapes.

The bay consists of a dense cluster limestone monolithic islands. Many of these have dense vegetation & it is a peculiar but refreshing sight to see them heading out of the water. Several of the islands are hollow, with enormous caves. The beaches that I saw there are one of the best I have seen though I have been to Mauritius & Fiji. The abundance of lakes inside the limestone islands in addition makes the island one of the best places to explore in the tourism world.

The best way to see this spectacular area is to take a cruise or a boat out to the water. The jagged rocks are amazing and many of them have caves where you can go right through them. If you are looking for a nice tourist spot in Vietnam, Halong Bay is wonderful to see and I would not pass up on seeing it.
