Great Weekend Getaways #2:
By Chuck, Iowa - I'm just back from the best weekend vacation break that I've ever been on. We went to New York and stayed in mid-town Manhattan at the Belvedere Hotel on West 48th Street. The hotel has a swimming pool which was a great way to wake up each morning before going out to enjoy the city. There's so much to do in New York that a weekend passes in no time at all.

We spent half a day in Central Park Zoo which is very interesting and contains animals from all over the world. The hotel was just a short walk to the Empire State Building where we went up to the viewing gallery and took many photographs of the stunning New York skyline.

After that we sat outside and hate hotdogs with mustard - just like the locals. If you go in winter as we did then don't forget to visit the Ice Rink at the Rockefeller Center.

Like our hotel, this was in central Manhatten on 5th Avenue and is an enjoyable way to get some fresh air and fun at the same time. The pace in New York is very fast but that is what makes it so enjoyable, the only thing is, that afterward you may need a holiday to relax from all the excitement.

Great Weekend Getaways #3:
By Jennifer, Michigan - We were considering weekend vacation ideas and with the money being so tight, we decided to go local. We chose Ann Arbor, Michigan as our tropical locale. Granted, the 2 inches of snow somewhat detracted from the theme, but we were determined to have a tropical weekend getaway.

First we reserved a hot tub at Oasis. It was really nice, they have rooms that are open to the elements, but we chose an indoor closed room, it was just what we needed, and after an hour and a half soaking and luxuriating, we were already feeling tropical.

The decor was tropical themed too with plants and a rain forest like atmosphere, it was perfect. For dinner, keeping with the tropical theme, we went to the Palm Palace. It has great Middle Eastern food, and good vegetarian options along with their meat courses, so my meat eater boyfriend and I were both happy.

After that we were warm and our bellies were full. We were going to stay the night but opted against it, deciding to spend the money we would have otherwise spent on the room, on another great weekend getaway the next week.

Great Weekend Getaways #4:
By David, North Carolina - My wife surprised me with a weekend getaway to Boone, North Carolina. We stayed at a little log cabin bed and breakfast, complete with an old dog sitting by the fireplace all day long, that let us sleep in until 10 and still get a hot breakfast.

We spent the weekend hiking off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, reminiscing on Appalachain State campus and eating at Macado's and Murphy's. At Julian Price Park there are several easy trails that are only a couple of miles but they provide some gorgeous photo opportunities.

It was so nice to be back in the mountains and feasting on Murphy's cheese fries...ohh their cheese fries... Add to the fact that the children were safely tucked away at the grandparents and the whole weekend was a spectacular vacation ideas!

Great Weekend Getaways #5:
By Mary, Atlanta - If you love the outdoors and animals, then the Poconos located in Pennsylvania is a great place for a weekend getaway. With the woods all around you, it's impossible for one to get bored.

Hiking is just one activity that you can do. Located all through this area, you can find horseback riding farms. You are instructed on how to ride a horse and get to experience the fun of riding on a trail.

If that isn't your cup of tea, then perhaps fishing is. Since the Poconos has lakes all around, there are a few pay to fish places. This is great for the children.

No one ever leaves these pay to fish places without catching something. Seeing little kids excited about catching their first fish will bring a smile to anyone's face.

If you're not the type who prefers activities in the outdoors, shopping is also great in the Poconos. From outlets to little shops that sell just about anything, it's not hard to go home empty handed.

One of the biggest reasons why so many individuals flock to the Poconos is because it's known as a hot honeymoon spot. Many hotels provide newlywed services creating a setting that is perfect for the newly wedded couple.

The Poconos was by far the best vacation I have ever had. I plan to do it another time in the future. I never got bored, had always something to do, and just enjoyed my entire stay.
