For beach vacations, our top choice is Panama City Beach. We can enjoy the water and also get in some fun running the go-kart track, playing mini-golf and riding all the amusement park rides. If we have time, we like to hit Zoo World or Cobra Adventure Park.

Another beach area we often go to is Destin. These are the cleanest and maybe the most beautiful beaches we've seen anywhere.

Destin is also one of the best Florida vacation spots for shopping. Destin Commons and Silver Sands Outlet Mall are favorites. It's a great place for deals on designer clothes.

There are many choices in seafood restaurants, diving and fishing boats are available. The town has a carnival atmosphere with skee ball, miniature golf, go cart racing, para-sailing and scooter rentals. Fireworks are also available for sale and can be purchased year round.

Spring break is a popular time in this resort town and if bring small children would be best to book around this time. Many spots on the beach have life guards on duty and many more areas have the flag system to warn of dangerous conditions in the water.

Key West, Florida is a famous and popular vacation spot for many reasons. Here are a few reasons to go to Key West that you may not have thought of. Key West has its own version of the Indianapolis 500 except here it’s all about powerboats. Come in November for the Key West World Championship Powerboat Races.

Around the same time, historic Key West is taken over by hundreds of pirate entertainers to celebrate Pirates in Paradise. More pirate fun can be had at the Key Largo Pirates Festival, a three-day affair rum tastings, plank walking, costumes and other pirate fun. Beer lovers will want to come for the annual Key West Brewfest in September. Then there’s the big one, Fantasy Fest is held every October. Everyone joins in with costumes, parades and loads of general partying.

This destination attracts some tourists but a lot of people have never even heard of Destin, Florida which is why I picked this as an unusual spot. Destin is full of very friendly locals who seem to all be very low key and laid back. The beaches are the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen in Florida. There are vacation homes to rent along the beaches which are very nice! I thought about living there because it's the perfect place to live if you like to be low key and just relax.

Gatorland has a selection of different adventures for you to try including "Gator Night Shine" where you walk along the Breeding Marsh with flashlights. You can see the red eyes of the gators looking back at you. Or the "Adventure Hour" where you go into the Breeding Marsh for the opportunity to feed the gators and pose for pictures with them. Or "Rookie Wrestling" where you can go to the Gator Wrestlin’ Arena and have about a dozen alligators swimming around you and you can get a picture of your experience

This is a great place for artists, writers or even philosophers. There’s a small inn, a modest collection of beach houses with some rentals. Some great walks, some great swimming and some great thinking time. Remember to bring your own supplies, there’s no Wal-Mart.

You can access to the island via a local ferry or via a small air strip. Obviously, however, the best way to visit this most interesting spot is via your own boat where hopefully you have food, bunks and cover from the elements. Go ahead; write that great American novel that’s been whirling around in your head.
