Probably few of you have heard of the little town of Cascade, Colorado, which is the first mountain town just ten miles west of Colorado Springs. The entrance to the Pikes Peak Tollway, which can take you to the very top of the 14,110 foot mountain, is in our town. Pikes Peak is known as America's Mountain because "America the Beautiful" describes the view from the top. As you drive toward Pikes Peak, you'll pass the North Pole, where Santa lives from May until Christmas Eve. Here you can ride on the world's highest altitude Ferris wheel (at over 8000 feet), or on other rides, as well as see Santa. This is where all the letters written to Santa come, and are answered. As you come back, you can stop at Colorado Wines to have a meal, perhaps during the summer sitting by Fountain Creek, or to sample and buy some of Colorado Wines. Next door, you'll find the Gourmet Popcorn store, which features varieties of popcorn including crème de menthe, cinnamon, cheese, etc. If you drive ten minutes down the road to Colorado Springs, you can visit the many attractions there - the Garden of the Gods, the beautiful Broadmoor Resort, many museums, or drive further and see the Air Force Academy. Stay in Cascade in one of our beautiful B & Bs which compare to any in the world - the Rocky Mountain Lodge & Cabins in Cascade, Eastholme in the Rockies, or The Blue Spruce. And breathe the very fresh mountain air, see deer in the yard at the B & Bs, listen to the magpies, and you might even see a red fox. Cascade is an excellent spot for family vacations in Colorado.
