There are plenty of outdoor things to do here like fishing for trout, canoeing, swimming, bicycling and hiking. The resort has many activities directed at children. They have both indoor and outdoor supervised play areas with games, sports, arts and crafts, farm visits, and many other fun things for the kids to do. Camp Wind Whistle is a seven day a week summertime program for kids where they can take part in professionally supervised activities with other kids their own age.

It's a kick-back and relax kind of place - in the summer there's canoeing and kayaking, moose cruises and safari's, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and river rafting, or just lazing by the lake. Families can cook for themselves in the cabins, or eat in The Birches Restaurant. There are a number of guided and self-guided tours, including a wonderful canoe trip in the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.

In winter, there's ice skating on the lake, ice fishing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing and snowmobiling. It's a family oriented place - a throw-back to an earlier time. People are warm and friendly. The family dog is invited.

Sugarloaf has lots of children’s activities and programs. Plus they always have special family deals running at various times during the year. The kids can enjoy snow tubing, game night, movie night, Snowshoe Safari, ice skating, sleigh riding.

Also, located nearby at the foot of the mountain is the Carrabassett Valley Antigravity Recreation Complex. Here the kids can skateboard and rollerblade in a huge indoor skate park complete with ramps, rind rails and mini-half pipe in a 10 foot deep bowl. The complex has an indoor rock climbing wall, trampolines, basketball courts and other great fun stuff.
