My family and I visit often, since this was the island my mother grew up on. A wonderful little community resides on Grand Manan Island, everyone seems to know everyone else. There are barely any restaurants, and there is only one gas station, and every point comes out at a beautiful ocean view, whether you drive up to North Head and seek out the view from Swallow Tail Lighthouse, or you drive towards Blacks Harbor for the most stunning sunset you'll see all summer. I don't recommend swimming though. It's extremely cold, and I grew up going here. We have visited this waterpark/hotel in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, twice already this year, and are planning to go again in April, 2010. We have a three year old, and a nine month old, and our daughter (who is three), LOVES it! They have thought of everything for kids. The waterpark is 70,000 square feet, with tons of slides for all ages, and a wave pool. They have an arcade, two restaurants on site (food is amazing), a bar for adults in the evening, a spa for adults and kids, mini golf, story time at night for kids, and crafts during the day. They have talking animals which the kids love, and the service is both friendly and informative. In addition, if you visit the Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, it's five minutes from the Falls themselves, which is a site one must see in their lifetime. The rooms are huge! They come with two queen size beds, and a pull out coach. All rooms have microwaves, bar fridge, balcony (nice views), and a separate sitting area where you can rent movies or watch television. I can't say enough good things about Great Wolf Lodge, and would recommend anyone with kids under the age of 12 to visit. I guarantee, you will go back like we have! The Place Desjardins uses its 268 acres as an outdoor winter amusement park with an ice palace, children's game area and an ice maze. There is lots of live entertainment, music and dancing. There is always a wide variety of things to see and do such as night parades, skating, snow rafting, horse-drawn sleigh or dogsled rides, snow scultping and ice-fishing. For over fifty years this has been one of the the biggest winter carnival in the world. A monorail gives you a bird's eye view of the park. With lives stage shows, concerts and entertainment this is safe clean fun for the whole family. You can explore, camp, fish, swim, ski, snowmobile, hike or participate in just about any outdoor activity you can think of. Held in July, this Scottish festival has a Kilted Golf Tournament, concerts, pipe bands, Scottish field events, dancing competitions, Grand Street Parade, competitions for piping and drumming, massed pipe band tattoo, and more. It's a wonderful celebration of everything Scottish. Return from Eastern Canada Vacations to Canada Vacations Return from Eastern Canada Vacations to 1001 Vacation Ideas |
