Delaware Vacations Idea #10:Killens Pond Water Park, in Felton , has two 27-foot-high spiraling waterslides each with 205 feet of twists and turns that will have the kids screaming for more. The pool has an easy access "zero-depth" entrance so the little kids will feel comfortable getting in. You would enjoy visiting us in Dover, Delaware because we are a diverse destination -- from one of NASCAR's most popular race tracks to 20 historic sites and museums, there's a lot of appeal, not to mention that shopping and dining are tax-free in Delaware. Just a couple miles from the track, you'll slip into miles of farmlands and home to Delaware's Amish community. Did you know that Dover is the Capital of the First State? Come see the John Dickinson Plantation, boyhood home of one of "Penman of the American Revolution."
Take a lantern-lit tour of our local cemeteries with costumed interpreters at the First State Heritage Park. See one of the oldest capital buildings in the country, recently reopened to the public after a two-year renovation process. And, we have special events galore!
The photo is our Air Mobility Command Museum where 2 dozen restored vintage aircraft are on display along with the history of military aviation.
Delaware Vacations Idea #12:For a long time vacationers looking to get away from Washington D.C. have headed out to
Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. As a result it's been called the
Nation's Summer Capital. Rehoboth Beach is a family oriented resort community and the central hub of the state's 24 miles of ocean shore. Here you can unwind with a wide variety of fun activities like surfing, swimming, boating and fishing. Next door is
Delaware Seashore State Park where you can go add camping, nature trail hikes and horseback riding to the list of things to do. Rehoboth also has some great art galleries and lots of nightlife activities.
