The Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, in Smyrna, is part of a chain of waterfowl refuges stretching from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. It is an excellent place for bird watching especially in the spring and fall. Besides watching the herons, egrets, glossy ibis and the occasional bald eagle, there numerous nature trails and observation towers. Pick up an interpretive cassette tape at the visitors center and enjoy the 12-mile auto-tour route.

The picturesque village of Odessa has many restored and preserved 18th and 19th century homes. The tree-lined streets and historic house provide the visitor with 19th century atmosphere.

The Brick Hotel Gallery contains a collection of high-style Victorian furniture. The Corbit-Sharp House is furnished with objects once owned by the Corbit family or made by Delaware craftsmen. At the annual Decoy Festival you can enjoy exhibitions, demonstrations by master carvers, and musical entertainment.

Take a guided tour of the 300-acre estate of the Nemours Mansion & Gardens. Built in 1910 for Alfred L. DuPont the mansion has an incredible one hundred and two rooms and is filled with antique European and American furniture, rare rugs, tapestries, and outstanding works of art. Outside are The Gardens with their fountains, pools and statues all collected by one of the richest families ever.

Dover Downs International Speedway is one of only two tracks on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit with a concrete surface. It has been providing NASCAR fans with exciting racing since 1969. Some have called the races on the Monster Mile among the most competitive in all of NASCAR.

Come watch Native Americans from across the country celebrate their culture and heritage with the annual two day long Nanticoke Powwow. Held the second weekend of September in Oak Orchard, Sussex County, Native Americans get together for traditional dancing, Indian drumming and singing, arts & crafts, and Indian food.

The Nanticoke Indian Museum displays stone artifacts, carvings, pottery, traditional clothing, Native American books, photographs and video presentations.

Vacation Ideas in Delaware #6:
The Brandywine Zoo is located near Wilmington in Brandywine Park. They have a 110,000 cubic feet cage that is home to the Andean Condor. Their list of animals includes Siberian tigers, river otters, and other animals native to the Americas and the temperate areas of Asia. There are lots of special events and educational programs focused on children.

For those of you who consider shopping a fun activity, there are 140 brand-name factory-direct stores at The Rehoboth Outlets. Here you will find some of the best shopping on the east coast, like Eddie Bauer, Nike Factory Store, GAP Outlet, Liz Claiborne and Donna Karan. There are three shopping centers all in Rehoboth Beach. It's all tax-free so go get yourself some bargains.

Vacation Ideas in Delaware #8:
Cape Henlopen State Park, in Southern Delaware, contains 3,000 beautiful acres. There are lots of trails for biking and walking including a 3 mile paved trail that loops around the park. There is an observation tower that provides a great 360 degree view. There are tennis courts, a nature center, two beaches for swimming and surf fishing and it is the home of the "Great Walking Dune".

Vacation Ideas in Delaware #9:
Rehoboth Beach is a main vacation attraction in Delaware good for swimming, surfing and fishing. There is a one mile long boardwalk with lots of great restaurants, shops, arcades, and places to stay.

You will find a lively nightlife with an excellent selection of music venues. The Rehoboth Beach Film Society has an annual Independent Film Festival along with other events throughout the year.

Delaware Vacations Idea #10:
Killens Pond Water Park, in Felton , has two 27-foot-high spiraling waterslides each with 205 feet of twists and turns that will have the kids screaming for more. The pool has an easy access "zero-depth" entrance so the little kids will feel comfortable getting in. There's the Mushroom Fountain and the Floating Lily Pad Fun Walk, along with many other water activities for all ages.
