Their cuisine is also superb. I enjoyed afternoon buffets poolside, cold margaritas, and an exceptional array of seafood from their dinner menu. After dinner and the shows, you can head out to the dance club. Carnival is definitely the Fun Ship! I partied the nights away with all of the other travelers.
Beside their wonderful entertainment aboard the ship, they have wonderful itineraries and ports of call.
During my most recent cruise, I went to Mexico (Cozumel), Ocho Rios (Jamaica), and the Cayman islands. It is so easy to book excursions so that you can truly take advantage of your time in each place.
In Mexico we took a tour that showed us around the city, in Jamaica we climbed the waterfall, and in the Cayman Islands we swam with dolphins and sting rays. Truly a spectacular vacation!
We joined the ship in Dover, England having had a short drive to the port. The majority of other passengers on board were Americans who had flown over to take the cruise. Once we arrived at the docks check-in was surprisingly easy, and we saw no more of our luggage until we were in our comfortable cabin.
The ship, The Eurodam, really is a giant floating hotel. It has a casino, three outstanding restaurants, a cinema and a theatre, and a beauty spa and gym to keep both body and mind entertained.
We played mini-golf, learned Tai-Chi and took part in a number of the afternoon contests laid on by our hosts. The ship sailed mainly at night although we had three "at sea" days when we lounged by the pool.
Our ports of call included the picturesque town of Warnemunde in northern Germany, from where we could have taken a trip to Berlin; Talinn in Estonia, one of the most fascinating towns I have visited and St Petersburg, a very European, Russian city.
In every city, I found something special, something to "oooh" and "aah" about, like the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen and the Christmas Shop in Helsinki.
Any of these could have been my favorite place, and the highlight of the cruise vacation. But it was the whole experience, combining the places I wanted to see, with the cruise ship, the food, the entertainment and the luxury of having everything taken care of that made this cruise my favorite holiday.
With cruises, everything you need for comfort is traveling with you through the ocean, and you have unlimited food at your hands 24 hours a day. Cruises are a fun filled atmosphere and there are tons of scheduled activities so you are never bored. This year we went on an Alaskan cruise through Norwegian Cruise Lines.
We sailed on the Westerdam out of Seattle and visited the Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Victoria, Canada. Ketchikan was my favorite stop because of the tour we went on.
It was through Duck Tours, which take you in a duck boat so you can tour through land and ocean. Our guide was hilarious. Even though it was raining, which i do not particularly prefer, that was the best stop in my opinion.
If you have never been to Alaska, I would highly recommend taking a cruise there. It is absolutely gorgeous and what better way to travel than on a floating buffet!
