The bars, casinos, and slot machines are closed. Gospel music and family activities are the entertainment. You get everything you would expect from a family cruise experience including fabulous five-course meals, a spa, beauty salon, pool, and lots of kids activities and games.

The cruise goes from Jacksonville to the Bahamas. At the Bahamas Island port stops you can go ashore and shop, golf, lounge on the beach or try some water sports, snorkeling, parasailing, scuba diving, and deep sea fishing. Every day of the cruise includes Gospel music, preaching and lots of Christian fellowship.

The accommodations are spacious condos, cottages and motel rooms. Still Waters Lakefront Resort offers a free Zoom the Flume Water Slide, free paddle boats, inner tubes and kayaks, free bicycles, as well as three outdoor swimming pools, wading pools, hot tubs, boat and ski rentals, sand volleyball, plus a game room and playground.

The surrounding area has many lakes and you can hire a guide for fishing day trips. The Branson area has the Branson Air Show, the National Harvest Festival, world-class entertainment and shopping, golf courses and theme parks.

The staff here is dedicated to providing a true family vacation experience. The camp programs and activities are structured with flexibility that allows parents to relax without the worry of constantly planning out each day’s itinerary. Home cooked meals are in the dining room.

You’ll enjoy comfortable beds in the lodge, a crackling fire in the fireplace and rocking chairs on the deck. Morning Bible studies are available for those that choose to participate. Take a horse ride in the Rocky Mountain National Forest. Little Buck-A-Roo’s counselors and Kid’s Club staff supervise a variety of children’s activities.

For the past four years, my family and I have been vacationing at Sandy Cove Campground, North East, Maryland. We started going when my oldest child was 6 years old. Now we have four kids and they all love it.

You can either be a hard core camper and stay in a camper or a log cabin, or if you are not hard core, you can stay in their hotel. We actually stayed in a log cabin and had a great time. It is fully equipped, but you have to purchase your own food at the nearby Food Lion store.

We brought along a portable DVD player, as there was no TV and watched movies when we weren't having fun - which wasn't very often. My kids enjoyed staying in the loft area and bunk beds. There is a laundry located at the camp store loaded with board games and books, right down the lane.

We walked every day in the woods and went to the pool, located about 1/4 mile away. We even went on a trail walk several times that week. Since we brought our bikes we were able to travel by "wheels" most of the time, and didn't even have to lock up the bikes.

The reason why - Sandy Cove Campground is a Christian family camp. Why it was greatly enjoyed:

1. It was a Christian environment, so we didn't have to worry about questionable language and activities around our children.

2. There is a state park nearby where we were able to go fishing - and even caught a large bass!

3. With so many activities: Mini Golf, Playgrounds, Swimming, Fishing, Game Room, Boating, Hiking, Gym Area, Tennis, and Great Food! 4. We didn't hear, "Are We There Yet?"

Sandy Cove is located only 1 Hour away from NJ. For those who are not Christian, it can still be enjoyed as there is no requirement to attend any church activities. This is definitely a family vacation that my kids will never forget. Every year they ask, "When are we going to Sandy Cove?"
