1001 Vacation Ideas Home
Staying in the best hotel in San Francisco will ensure that your vacation in this beautiful city will be a success. San Francisco as a vacation idea immediately draws thoughts of beauty, romance, and great food. When people speak of the best cities to visit, San Francisco is almost always at the top of the list. It’s extremely rare for someone to say they didn’t enjoy their trip to San Francisco. Even people who travel to San Francisco for business love it.

While it’s a near guarantee that you will enjoy a vacation to San Francisco, if you want to increase the chances of having the best vacation of your life, consider one of the hotels covered below. These are the highest rated San Francisco hotels by travelers.

Best Hotel in San Francisco #1:
The InterContinental Hotel is in a perfect location and offers exceptional service. As far as location goes, you can walk to Union Square and the clubs on Harrison Street. This hotel is also right next to the Moscone West Convention Center. If you appreciate modern architecture, the InterContinental Hotel might be a good option for you.

It’s a 32-story glass tower that looks like something out of a futuristic movie. This hotel also opened as recently as 2008, which means everything is brand new and clean. One interesting aspect of this San Francisco hotel is that the rooms are designed so the noise from the hallways is limited.

It’s actually close to impossible to hear anything from the hallway, which is great. Nobody will keep you up at night. The comfortable beds will also help in that regard. Amenities include a fitness center, a spa, an indoor pool, and a continental breakfast with an enormous selection. The only negative is expensive parking.

Best Hotel in San Francisco #2:
The Mandarin Oriental – San Francisco offers the best views in San Francisco. If views are the most important factor for you, this will be the best San Francisco hotel. You can gaze at the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay all day. And if you want the best of the best when it comes to views, consider reserving the Oriental Suite, which has its own spacious terrace. All the rooms at this hotel are large, but if you want the largest room, consider reserving the Dynasty Suite, which has a large living room.

The location of the Mandarin Oriental – San Francisco isn’t bad, either. It’s close to the financial district and only 7 miles from the San Francisco Zoo. Guests often describe this hotel as perfect, great, and amazing. These three words are used over and over by travelers when describing the Mandarin Oriental – San Francisco. This hotel is expensive, but if you’re going to have one of the best vacation ideas of a lifetime, the prices are well worth paying.

Best Hotel in San Francisco #3:
The Fairmont San Francisco Hotel is located in Nob Hill in downtown San Francisco. This is a stately structure that sits on top of a hill and overlooks San Francisco. This leads to excellent views. This hotel is popular amongst both leisure and business travelers. That’s probably why it’s the most popular San Francisco hotel on this list. Leisure travelers enjoy The Fairmont San Francisco Hotel because of the views, spacious rooms, great food, and Tiki Bar.

And for families, the close proximity to Children’s Fairyland is a huge plus. Business travelers enjoy The Fairmont San Francisco Hotel because of the business center, secretarial service, and meeting rooms. There are a few negatives for this hotel, however, which include no WiFi in the rooms (although you can use wired), sound travels too well, and the doors slam due to an automated mechanism. The Fairmont San Francisco Hotel is still a great option for anyone who appreciates a grand setting.

Best Hotel in San Francisco #4:
The three hotels covered above all have traveler ratings of 4.5 stars. The Hotel California only comes in at 4 stars but should still be considered for your San Francisco vacation ideas. It is not as impressive, but it’s still the best option for some travelers. The Hotel California is in a great downtown location.

It’s right next to the city center, only 1.4 miles from San Francisco Duck Tours, and 6.2 miles from the San Francisco Zoo. The continental breakfast is good, and cheese and wine is served every day between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The rooms here are small, but the beds are comfortable. The only negative is that free WiFi is only available in the lobby.
