Playas del Este is a group of four beach areas along the North-West coast of Cuba - East of Havana. Megano is the smallest and most private. If you want more crowds and activity try Santa Maria or Mar Azul. For families head over to Guanabo. Playas del Este is close to Havana so plan a trip to the city and maybe sample the local cigars.

Lipari Island is one of the seven Aeolian Islands off the coast of Sicily, Italy. Ponente Beach is known for its unusual sand which is soft, white and powdery but is made up of volcanic pumice supplied by the island’s volcano.

There’s a wonderful town, named Lipari, with a reconstructed church from the Norman-era. Lipari also has an archeological museum and park. At the Diana District Archeological Park, you can visit a local seventeenth century castle as well as ruins of buildings from the Greeks and Romans.

Beach Vacation Spots Idea #3:

Komodo Island is east of Bali off Indonesia. Here you will find the Loh Liang Beach as well as several thousand famous local residents, the Komodo dragons. The beach is good for swimming, diving and snorkeling. But the giant Komodo lizards are the main draw. You have to be careful with them because they can be dangerous. It’s a good idea to get a local guide. A vacation here is for the more adventurous but it’s well worth the effort.

Beach Vacation Spots Idea #4:

The Kohala Coast of Hawaii’s Big Island is where you will find the black sand beaches of Punalu’u. The black sand comes from the volcanic lava that is constantly expanding the size of the island every year.

Punalu'u Black Sand Beach is an unusual spot and creates a beautiful contrast to the turquoise waters and the green palm trees on shore. Spotting the endangered green sea turtle here is a lot of fun. Just remember it is against the law to touch or harass them.

Beach Vacation Spots Idea #5:

The beaches of the Galapagos Islands are only a small part of what draws people here. The Galapagos are located in the Pacific Ocean, some 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador. Hiking and exploring these incredibly beautiful islands is the main activity. Giant tortoises, sea lions and pre-historic looking iguanas are some of the interesting wildlife you will encounter.

The beach at Isla Bartolome is good for swimming and snorkeling with the penguins, turtles and tropical fish. Small cruise ships go out from the town of Isla Santa Cruz for daytrips to the various islands and beaches.

Vacation Ideas for the Beach #6:

The Greek island of Santorini is a beautiful place of breathtaking volcanic cliff views, black sand and pebble beaches, and traditional cliff-side villages. The main beaches are Perissa, Kamari, Monolithos and the Red Beach.

The sunsets here are world famous and villages such as Oia, Fira and Imerovilil offer impressive views from their lofty perches on the volcanic walls. Santorini Island also has a very active nightlife, with Fira and Oia having the most popular clubs.

Floating in the Dead Sea

The beaches of the Dead Sea, in southeast Israel, are famous for the therapeutic and healing effects of the water. The Dead Sea has a 30% concentration of salt and minerals. The most noticeable thing about it is that anyone can float in the water, effortlessly.

Black Mud, made from the water, is used for therapeutic (Rheumatic diseases) and cosmetic treatments. The beaches are sunny and warm year round and because the Dead Sea is 1300 feet below sea level, the sun’s UV rays are dramatically reduced. This is a great boon to sun bathing enthusiasts.

Vacation Ideas for the Beach #9:

Barbados Island in the Caribbean is home Crane Beach, which is considered by many to be one of the top beaches in the world. The sand is a perfect fine soft white/pink and the ocean a perfect crystal blue. Crowds are at a minimum because the beach is a bit away from the tourist routes. The Crane Resort is a luxury resort hotel that takes full advantage of this dreamy tropical location. This is an excellent destination for a romantic or honeymoon vacation.

Beach Vacation Spots #10:

Children's Pool is a small sandy cove beach off the town of La Jolla in Southern California. The beach is protected by a seawall so it's a great family swimming area. The beach has a picturesque panoramic view.

The most unique thing about Children's Pool Beach is that nearby is a marine animal reserve called Seal Rock. The reserve is home to seals and sea lions and for much of the year these creatures make their way to the waters off the beach and up onto the beach itself.

Beach Vacation Spots #11:

One of my favorite vacation experiences was when I went to Cocoa Beach Florida with a group of my closest friends. There were four of us who stayed for four days and three other people who joined for a night.

It was spring break and we got to stay for free in a luxurious condo owned by a family friend. We did face masks, watched movies, each took turns cooking breakfast and dinner.

We celebrated my best friend's birthday there with wine and a delicious dinner and spent our days on the sunny, beautiful beach.

It was the experience of a life time and I formed close bonds with those friends and memories that I'll never forget. I haven't vacationed at any of the places on this list, but I'd love to go to Myrtle Beach sometime soon.

But so far that Cocoa beach trip has been my all-time favorite, the beach is beautiful, there was a delicious seafood restaurant with a meal that so far no other place has lived up to, and just an awesome, beautiful downtown style area.

It was unbelievable and I have nothing else to begin to compare it to. Anytime people around me begin chatting about vacation spots, I can't help but to gush about Cocoa beach. - Lois from Florida
