Alabama vacation spots #11: Visit the Moundville Archaeological Park for a look back into the past of 800 years ago. This is the site of the settlement of Moundville, the largest North American city of the time period. The park and the museum are run by the University of Alabama and is located south of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

You can tour the site on your own or there are guides available. The Douglass Nature Trail provides a nice relaxing walk through the park. The Jones Archaeological Museum displays a variety of artifacts that were excavated from the site. Native American artists provide demonstrations at the John & Delia Roberts Craft Pavilion.
